When Things Are Out of Our Hands

If there’s one thing this journey has taught us, it’s that even the best laid plans can change in a moment. Running a small business, especially one that depends on international production and shipping, means there are times when things are simply out of our hands.

Recently, we had to make the difficult decision to close Preorder 18 earlier than planned due to new government updates involving tariffs and trade relations with China. This kind of situation is rare but unpredictable, and it directly impacts how we place and process orders with our manufacturer.

We never want to rush or overpromise when we know circumstances are shifting. Our top priority is always to protect our customers and our business, ensuring we can continue to deliver high quality, original products without unnecessary risk or delays.

Why This Happens Sometimes

Every preorder is part of a long chain that starts with design and ends with your order being shipped to your doorstep. In between, there’s manufacturing, customs, shipping, and import regulations, all of which can change with very little notice.

When something like a tariff increase or trade restriction happens, it can affect costs, timelines, and even which items we’re able to produce. We work closely with our manufacturer to adapt as quickly as possible, but sometimes that means adjusting plans in real time, like closing a preorder early to stay within safe limits.

These decisions are never made lightly. They’re made to keep our prices fair, our operations stable, and our quality consistent.

Behind the Scenes

When we learned about the tariff changes, we immediately began reviewing how they could affect open and upcoming preorders. Our main goal was to honor every order that had already been placed while making sure we didn’t take on more than we could responsibly fulfill.

Closing early was disappointing (we were just as excited about this lineup as many of you were), but it was the right call to make sure every existing order could move forward as promised.

What Comes Next

We’re hopeful that once things settle, we’ll be able to revisit some of the affected prints in a future preorder. We always look for opportunities to bring back what our customers loved most, and that hasn’t changed.

We also want to assure you that we’re staying informed, communicating closely with our partners, and doing everything possible to keep production smooth and sustainable.

A Note from the Heart

We know changes like this can be frustrating, especially when you’ve been looking forward to something for weeks. Please know that we truly appreciate your patience and trust more than we can ever say. Running Lolly & Laddie has been a dream come true, but it also comes with hard days. These moments when we have to make tough decisions quickly remind us to trust our instincts and our community, knowing it’s always done with your best interest at heart.

Your kindness, encouragement, and continued support mean everything to us. Every message, tag, and word of understanding reminds us why we do this and that we’re surrounded by the most incredible community of families who truly “get it.”

Thank you for being here through every preorder, every surprise, and every growing pain. We couldn’t do this without you, and we wouldn’t want to.

With love and gratitude,
Lolly & Laddie Boutique
