Trust us, we've asked ourselves the same question.
The reality is that every collection is a balancing act.
When we place an order with our manufacturer, we're making our best estimate of how many families will love each print, each style, and each size. We look at past launches, customer requests, seasonal demand, and trends, but at the end of the day, we still have to make an educated guess.
If we order too few, items sell out quickly and we know some of you will miss out.
If we order too many, we're left with excess inventory that takes up valuable warehouse space and ties up money that could be used to create future collections.
There isn't a perfect formula.
That's one of the reasons we love preorders. They allow us to produce exactly what our customers want while giving everyone an opportunity to reserve their favorites before production begins. It helps us reduce waste, better plan inventory, and continue bringing you unique collections throughout the year.
Ready-to-ship collections are a little different. Those quantities are set before launch, so once something sells out, it's often gone for good. Occasionally we'll find a few extras or receive additional inventory from our manufacturer, but we never want to promise a restock that may not happen.
Every decision we make is with the long-term health of Lolly & Laddie in mind. We'd rather be thoughtful with our inventory than overproduce and risk having to sacrifice quality, future collections, or the experience we want to provide for our customers.
So if you ever see us reminding you to grab your favorites before they're gone, we're not trying to create urgency just for the sake of it. Many of our products really are available in limited quantities, and once they're gone, they may never return.
