Today we finally got to share something we have been working on for a very, very long time: our new athletic wear. And I cannot even explain how exciting it feels to finally have it out in the world.
From the outside, a new collection can look pretty simple. We design something, have it made, and then launch it.
Behind the scenes, it can look very different.
This particular project has been over a year in the making, and there have been so many rounds of samples, changes, waiting, more samples, and then more changes.
We would receive a sample, try it on, look at the fit, the fabric, the construction, and all of the little details. Then we would make notes about what we wanted changed and send everything back to the factory. After that, we would wait for another sample to be made, receive it, go through everything again, and sometimes realize there were still things we wanted to adjust.
Could we have stopped at one of those earlier samples and launched sooner?
Absolutely.
But it wasn’t what we wanted yet.
There were certain features and details we had pictured from the very beginning, and we weren’t willing to remove them simply because they made the process easier or faster.
That is one thing I never want us to do at Lolly & Laddie: cut corners just to get something on the website.
I’d rather take longer. I’d rather make another sample. I’d rather go back and change something for the third or fourth time than release a product knowing we could have made it better.
Of course, no product is ever going to be absolutely perfect for every single person, but when we finally put our name on something, I want to know that we put the work into getting it as close to our vision as possible.
And that’s exactly what happened with these.
There were definitely moments throughout this process where I wondered if we were ever going to get to the point where I could finally show them to you. 😂 So being able to announce them today feels like a HUGE milestone.
What makes me even more excited is knowing this is only the beginning.
We purposely started small because we want to hear from you. We want to see what you love, what you’re reaching for, and what you want to see next.
The goal is to continue growing this part of L&L with more styles, more prints, more options, and plenty of fun ideas that we already have floating around behind the scenes.
After spending so long perfecting our first pieces, I am just incredibly excited to finally see them worn, loved, and put to use.
Sometimes the things that take the longest really are the most exciting to finally share.
