Some kids learn early how to pack up a room, say goodbye to friends, and start over somewhere new.
Some learn how to count down the days until a parent comes home.
How to recognize voices over the phone or FaceTime.
How to be brave in ways most people don’t notice.
April is Month of the Military Child, and we wanted to take a moment to recognize the children who carry so much, often quietly.
Because behind every service member is a family. And within those families are children learning what it means to be strong in their own way.
Military kids grow up with a unique kind of resilience. They adapt quickly, build friendships wherever they go, and learn that “home” isn’t always a place, it’s the people they love.
But alongside that strength, there are also sacrifices.
The missed birthdays.
The empty seats at school events.
The long deployments.
The constant transitions.
It’s a lot for little hearts.
At Lolly & Laddie, we believe childhood should feel safe, comforting, and full of love. And while military families create that in incredible ways, we also recognize the weight they carry to make it happen.
This month, we honor those children.
The ones who wave goodbye with brave smiles.
The ones who count down the days.
The ones who learn to be strong, even when it’s hard.
As part of this, our upcoming Preorder 24 will include a new print, Little Hero Life. It was created to celebrate these children, their strength, their resilience, and the quiet ways they show up every single day.
We’re also honored to be donating a portion of proceeds from this print to the Military Child Education Coalition, an organization that supports military-connected children through education, resources, and programs that help them navigate transitions, stay connected, and continue to thrive no matter where life takes them.
Because being a hero doesn’t always look loud.
Sometimes it looks like starting over, holding onto hope, and simply getting through the day.
If your family is part of this story, we see you. We honor you. And we are so grateful for the sacrifices you make, both seen and unseen.
This month, and always, we celebrate the little heroes.
With love,
