February is American Heart Month, but heart health isn’t really something most of us only think about once a year. We usually think about it when something scares us. When a test comes back different than we expected. When a loved one is suddenly in the hospital. When we feel that quiet reminder in our own chest that our bodies are trying to get our attention.
So today isn’t about stats or checklists. It’s about pausing for the hearts that carry so much.
The hearts that carry children.
The hearts that carry grief.
The hearts that carry stress we rarely talk about.
The hearts that carry joy, love, fear, and hope all at the same time.
Many of you here are women who spend most of your energy taking care of everyone else. You show up for your children, your partners, your parents, your jobs, and your communities. It’s easy to push your own health to the bottom of the list without even realizing it.
American Heart Month feels like a quiet invitation to listen to your body. To rest when you need to rest. To follow up on that appointment you’ve been delaying. To choose care over guilt. To take your own health seriously, not out of fear, but out of respect for the life you’re living and the people who love you.
There’s no perfect way to do that. No gold star for getting it all right. Just small, steady choices that add up over time.
From all of us at Lolly & Laddie, we’re sending love to every heart in this community. We’re grateful for each one, and we hope you take a little extra care of yours this month.
With love,
